Since 2004, New Forest Basics Bank have provided food parcels to 843 households and have sent out 3,432 Christmas parcels on top of this! Harvest are proud to have been able to do their part for this brilliant charity this week.
This Lymington based charity provides food parcels for those in need in the area. They run with the help of donations of non-perishable goods, from generous local people. Goods are sorted by volunteers, supplemented with fresh items that are purchased locally and made into parcels of sizes designed to feed individuals or families for up to a week at a time.
They work on a referrals basis, so those in need will more often than not have these parcels delivered to their home by volunteers. Receiving these parcels can help relieve the stress that food poverty causes.
At Harvest we are very proud to have been able to donate 100 tins of ‘We Can Curry’ to the bank, which will be distributed among their clients. Members of the Harvest transport team, delivered these among other products and helped to unload on arrival. We are glad that these products will go to individuals and families in need and we hope that they can help to make a difference to their week.
