On Wednesday 7th November, a team from Harvest Fine Foods attended the 2018 City College Awards in Southampton and we were delighted to win the Employer Recognition Award.

The Employer Awards recognise businesses from across the region that have consistently shown a commitment towards the training and personal development of their own workforce, as well as supporting the student’s development at City College, through providing support such as work experience and careers advice.

The evening started with a drinks reception and warm welcome from City College Principle and Chief Executive, Sarah Stannard.

Simon Hart, Catering Teacher at City College, is delighted to work with the team at Harvest: “I have a great relationship with Harvest Fine Foods and get a level of customer service that surpasses most other companies. They meet the needs of our business as well as offering us training and networking opportunities for ourselves, as well as our students. The products are of high quality and nothing seems to be any trouble. The product range is vast and they will always try to source something if they do not stock it.”

Darren Hughes, City College’s Account Manager at Harvest Fine Foods explains why it is such an honour to win the award:  “It is a privilege to work alongside the lecturers and students at the City College, whose enthusiasm for teaching future chefs the skills required to succeed is contagious.

At Harvest, we are proud to be a part of helping future generations of students, not only as a business/supply partner to the college but to help nurture students at grass roots level in the food industry, where there is a strong decline in up and coming chefs coming through.”

Harvest continues to encourage young chefs by working with other colleges in the area including Highbury, Fareham, Eastleigh, Basingstoke and Weymouth.
